As we’ve previously discussed this week, you can optimize thyroid function in many ways, including a well-balanced diet and nutritional supplementation. Here are a few recipe ideas that include thyroid-friendly ingredients.
Thyroid Enhancer Juice
1/3-inch fresh ginger root
2-inch slice fresh pineapple
2 spinach leaves
1 medium beet root with green tops
1 tsp kelp powder
Wash, trim, and chop first five ingredients and run through juicer. Add kelp powder to juice and stir.
Thyroid Supporter Salad (serves 4-6)
4 large beets, peeled and grated
2 oranges, cut into bite-size pieces
1 cup sliced shitake mushrooms
1 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
Juice of 1 orange
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon ground cumin
Sea salt and pepper to taste
Whisk all ingredients together and pour over salad just before serving.
